Encouraging unemployed youth to enter the field of entrepreneurship, Enhancing entrepreneurship skills in the youth community, Improve business efficiency and productivity and Providing sponsorship services for business development for giving maximum contribution to the national development of Sri Lanka.

Goals

	Creating a "Local Entrepreneurship Culture" through developing youth entrepreneurial capabilities
	To improve the living standards of the youth by identifying new job opportunities and guiding them to start enterprises
	Provide more employment opportunities and income growth for youth through improving the efficiency and productivity of youth enterprises.
	To actively contribute to ensuring the effectiveness and survival of micro and small businesses

Functions of the Division

The Small Business Development Division is responsible for creating new entrepreneurs in areas that have potential for the country's economic development, implementing programs to grow existing small businesses, and providing facilities for entrepreneurs to get the services they need.

Services and facilities especially targeted at the unemployed youth as well as services are provided for entrepreneurs who wish to start new businesses or improve existing businesses.

The main role of the division is to support the start-up of new businesses in areas of potential and to develop existing businesses. For that, entrepreneurship development training programs are conducted, and through this, it is expected to create an entrepreneurship culture by improving the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the youth.
