A training program aimed at empowering government officials to rescue people affected by emergency disaster situations was held recently (the 27th ) near the Old Port Jetty in Galle.
Approximately 50 government officials representing various divisions of the Galle District Secretariat (which frequently faces flood disasters), participated in this practical training.The primary objectives of this program are to provide knowledge on saving lives during emergency situations, rescuing the public, and implementing disaster first-aid procedures.
To achieve these objectives, participants were given practical training on operating rescue boats, using throwing bags to rescue individuals caught in water hazards, and establishing first-aid tents.
The sessions were conducted by trainers led by Mr. K.S.S. Somikalum from the Sri Lanka Life Saving Association
