Galle district to become a part of the pioneering organization working to create a poverty-free, empowered and prosperous Sri Lanka by the year 2030.
Mission
A network of departments, grassroots organizations and microfinance institutions to implement efficient, effective, rapid and effective solutions to empower marginalized people (economic, social, political, physical, psychological, legal, and environmental) and to reduce regional disparity. And with the good contribution of professionals, government, private, public and political sectors and the participation of local and global institutions, contributing to the economic development at the district level to build a prosperous country without poverty.
Functions of the Division
The Prosperity Development Department operates under the Ministry of Women, Children Affairs and Social Empowerment, and the District Prosperity Division operates in association with the district secretaries throughout the island. Accordingly, various programs are implemented by the Samurdhi Division throughout the district, mainly for the low-income earners, with the aim of empowering them, and for that, treasury allocations and various funds are used.

Prosperity Subsidy Programme
- Implementation of Samadhi subsidy program
- Old Age Allowance, Disability Allowance, Kidney Allowance and Dependency Allowance for low income families.
Banking program

Savings Activities - Savings Acceptance, Members, Non-Members, Groups, Diriya Mata, Children Sisura, Kekulu
- Loan Program – Self Employment Loan, Home Loan, Consumer Loan, Disaster, Livelihood, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship Loan
Social Development Programme
- Diriyapiyasa Houses, Saubhagya Houses and House Lottery Programme
- Program for provision of sanitation facilities
- Conducting Samurdhi Kekulu Children's Socio-Cultural and Literary Competitions
Economic Empowerment and Rural Development
- "Saubhagya” Horticulture Development Programme
- Promotion of livelihood economic development activities
Enterprise Development Programme
- Construction of new "Samurdhi Suva Bojun Hala"s and Sales Centres
- Creation of “Saubhagya” Markets
- Promotion of traditional and non-traditional cottage industries
Community based organizations
- Community Empowerment by mobilizing rural and economically disadvantaged people into grassroots organizations.
Implementation of social security programs
- Provide "Sip-dora" scholarships, insurance benefits for birth, marriage, sickness and death
