“ Galle Senehasa Sahana Paura” extended its humanitarian assistance to 10 other districts across the country including Kandy district.
Over the past few days, the donations of “Galu Senehasa Sahana Paura” dispatches to various districts, for distribution among people affected by adverse weather conditions, were handed over to the respective Divisional Secretariats.
This initiative commenced on 1st December 2025 with the provision of relief assistance to the Kandy District.
Accordingly, by this morning (10th December 2025), a total of 62 lorry loads of items collected by “Galu Senehasa Sahana Paura” has been dispatched to seven areas for distribution among people affected by the disaster.
All these items were distributed in a highly responsible and transparent manner under the direct supervision of the District Secretary - Galle, Mr. W. A. Dharmasiri.
So far, a total of 36 lorries have been dispatched according to the requirements of the Kandy District. Out of these, 7 lorries have been sent to the Nuwara Eliya District, 6 to the Gampaha District, 5 to Puttalam, 3 to Polonnaruwa, 1 to Badulla, 1 to Anuradhapura, 1 to Trincomalee, and 1 to Kegalle District.
The Galle District Secretariat, together with the Divisional Secretariats, has dispatched the dry rations, sanitary items, school equipment, medicines, drinking water bottles, essential goods, and other necessary items, collected through public donations, to the people of 10 disaster-affected districts.
In addition, the District Secretariat, Galle received voluntary support from various institutions, including private organizations and individuals, in the form of donations and transportation facilities. The successful implementation of this initiative by the District Secretariat, Galle, together with all Divisional Secretariats and the manpower contribution of the armed forces, stands as a remarkable achievement.
