Functions of the District Disaster Management Unit

bullet yellow  Creation of National Disaster Management Plan and National Emergency Operations Plan based on National Policy
bullet yellow  Hazard mapping and risk assessment
bullet yellow  Coordinate and conduct training and awareness programs
bullet yellow  Implementation of preparedness activities to respond to disasters, including assisting government agencies in developing preparedness plans
bullet yellow  Producing and disseminating early warnings
bullet yellow  Managing emergency operations and coordinating search and rescue operations
bullet yellow  Coordination of post-disaster activities including relief distribution
bullet yellow  Disaster reduction
bullet yellow  Research and development activities
bullet yellow  Integrating disaster risk reduction into the development process
bullet yellow  Coordinate climate change adaptation programs
bullet yellow  Liaising with Ministries, Departments, Armed Forces and Police, Private Sector Institutions, Local Non-Governmental Organizations, International Non-Governmental Organizations and other relevant agencies on disaster risk reduction activities
bullet yellow  Obtaining foreign assistance, coordinating and implementing projects for disaster mitigation, response and post-disaster recovery
